As you may know, Avon campaigns to raise money for two causes: Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence. When you purchase one of these items below, Avon donates a portion of the sales to these two great causes. I believe in these two causes as both have affected my life.

In case you don't know, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime according to www.breastcancer.org. The earlier it can be found, the higher the survival rate. If it is found in the early stages (stage 0-1), the 5 year survival rate is 99%. So, it is very important for all women to have access to and receive mammograms. My sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014. It was caught at the early stage. Today she is cancer free.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. 1 in 3 women will be or have been physically abused by their partner. And it's not just women. 1 in 4 men will be or have been physically abused by their partner. And further yet, 1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence. 90% are eyewitnesses to these crimes. Unfortunately, some grow up to either continue the cycle or be involved in an intimate violent relationship.

I have been in a domestic violence relationship involving my first husband. I don't talk about it much. I got out alive and it is in the past. But, I lived through that for seven years. People who have never been there say "Why do they stay so long?" It's not that simple. You truly believe they are sorry and will never do it again. Then you believe you and only you can get them to change because after all, he or she wasn't like that to begin with. Someday I will tell my story in hopes to help women and men who struggle through. But for now, I can attempt to help raise money for the cause.
